The Firework Maker's Daughter
We have been reading The Firework Maker's Daughter by Philip Pullman. Have a look out our firework display stop-motion animation.
Our Class Texts
In the Spring Term, Year 6 study Clockwork written by the author Philip Pullman. Once we have analysed the features of this text, we write own horror stories.
Check out our Clockwork video created for World Book Day 2020. Pupils used stop motion animation, drawings, and recorded narration and Foley sounds. This video was independently made by pupils in Year 6.
Clockwork by Year 6 - World Book Day
In the Autumn Term, Year 6 study 'The Boyhood of Burglar Bill'. The story is written by Allan Ahlberg who was a pupil at our school in the 1940s and 1950s. This book is all about his childhood adventures at Rood End, and focuses on a dramatic football tournament. You can see a picture of the school football team, taken at the time, below. Some of the characters from the story are seen in the photograph.
Photographs from the school archive can be viewed here.
