We made our own sock puppets and wrote instructions on how to make them.
This half term we will be focusing on the following texts:
Pinocchio, Toys in Space and Santa's Wonderful Workshop!
These texts will allow us to make predictions, retell a familiar story and continue using our phonics knowledge. We will also continue working on writing sentences that include capital letters, finger spaces and full stops.
In Phonics this term we will be revisiting phonemes from Phase 2/3 and begin to look at Phase 4.
We have also been applying our Phonic knowledge and skills to help us decode and read.
We will continue to work on this.
This term, children in Year 1 have been introduced to 'Tricky Words.' These are words that are not decodable.
We will continue to practice reading and writing the following words:
he, she, we, me, be, was, you, they, all, are, my, her
This half term we will be focusing on Addition and Subtraction. Children will read, write and interpret number sentences that use addition (+), subtraction (-) and equals (=) signs. They will also work on solving addition and subtraction problems using objects and pictorial representations.
This half term, we are continuing our topic of "Animals Including Humans". We will be focusing on the human body and finding out about body parts and their functions. The children will also discuss how we can keep ourselves healthy through exercise and diet.
Our first topic is 'Toys Through Time' where we will be using our design and technology skills. Children will look at toys from the past and compare them to toys around today. During this term Year 1 will be particularly focusing on designing, making and evaluating their own products.
