Spring Term

Science
Evolution
In this unit, pupils will learn about famous naturalists such as Charles Darwin and his Theory of Evolution. They will also search for evidence of extinct creatures and they will explore the risks facing endangered ones.

Electricity
In our 'Electricity' topic, children develop their understanding of electrical circuits and their application in the real world. They will also improve their knowledge of electrical safety.

 

Religious Education
Religious Charity (Christianity and Islam)
During this topic, pupils will develop an understanding of the charitable work religious groups are involved in and how this ties to their religious and philosophical beliefs. 

What would Jesus do?
Pupils will explore how Christians follow the teachings of Jesus in their daily lives.

 

PSHE
Safety and the Changing Body
In this unit, pupils will learn about relationships and the effects of puberty on their body.

Citizenship
In Autumn 2, pupils learn about human rights, discrimination, and environmental responsibility.

 

Art

Making My Voice Heard
Throughout this topic, pupils explore the concept of self-expression through artwork. 


Photography
In the second half term, pupils are able to create a range of artwork using digital mediums such as photography and photo manipulation.

 

Geography

The Alps
In Geography, pupils explore how energy is produced and consumed, with a focus on comparing areas in America and Great Britain.

 

History
Local Study: The Census
In History, pupils will investigate a local area through an investigation into the census. They will also learn how and why the census is completed.
