At Rood End Primary School, we’re dedicated to making sure every child feels safe, supported, and included. Part of this is following the government’s Prevent agenda, which helps keep children and our community safe by stopping anyone from getting involved in terrorism or extremist views.

Prevent is a government programme that aims to protect people from being drawn into harmful radical ideas or actions. It’s a key part of keeping children and communities safe.

• Creating a Safe and Welcoming Space: We work hard to make sure everyone feels respected, included, and able to be themselves.
• Building Critical Thinking and Resilience: Through lessons and everyday activities, children learn how to think carefully, make good choices, and stand strong against negative influences.
• Staff Training and Awareness: Our staff know how to spot early signs of radicalisation and are ready to support any child who might need help.
• Working with Parents and the Community: Keeping children safe is a team effort. We keep parents in the loop about Prevent and encourage families to join us in protecting our children.

We want you to feel confident that your child is learning in a safe, caring environment. Here’s how you can help:

• Keep Informed: Learn what Prevent is and why it’s important. Feel free to ask us any questions.
• Have Open Conversations: Talk with your child about their day, their friends, and any worries they might have.
• Support Our Values at Home: Encourage respect, honesty, and resilience – the values we live by at school.
• Speak Up if Concerned: If you have any worries about your child or others, please get in touch with us. We’re here to help.

Our community is wonderfully diverse.  This diversity is a strength, but it also means we need to work extra hard to protect our children from harmful influences and help them grow with hope and ambition.
