Parents' Evenings/Learning Meetings at Rood End Primary
At Rood End Primary School, we know that working closely with parents is key to helping every child grow and succeed. Our Parents’ Evenings/Learning Meetings are a great chance to catch up, talk about your child’s progress, celebrate what they’ve achieved, and figure out how we can all support their learning together. As a maintained primary school in Sandwell, we pride ourselves on being welcoming, honest, and inclusive, making sure every parent feels involved and informed.
We hold three Parents’ Evenings/Learning Meetings each year to keep you fully updated on your child’s learning:
- The Autumn and Spring Parents’ Evenings/Learning Meetings run over two evenings, giving you plenty of opportunities to meet your child’s teachers and chat about how they’re doing, what they’re great at, and where they might need a bit more support.
- The Summer Parents' Evening/Learning Meeting is all about looking over your child’s end-of-year report. It’s a perfect time to ask questions and celebrate how much they’ve grown academically and personally.
- For our youngest children, we have Nursery Learning Meetings throughout the year during the day, focusing on early development and how you can support learning at home.
Talking About Progress and How You Can Help
During these meetings, we’ll cover:
- How your child is doing in their learning, including reading, writing, and maths, with a focus on helping them reach their full potential.
- Celebrating the wins, like improvements in maths fluency or growing confidence in writing, which help build resilience and ambition.
- Discussing any concerns openly so we can work together to give the right support, whether that’s with language skills, reading, attendance or behaviour.
We want you to feel comfortable asking questions and sharing your thoughts about your child’s learning. Working together means we can give every child the best possible support.
Reflecting Our Vision and Values
Parents' Evening is a great example of how we live out Rood End’s values:
- Respect: Listening to your views and recognising you as a key part of your child’s education.
- Inclusivity: Making sure all parents feel welcome and supported, whatever their background.
- Teamwork: Joining forces to create the best learning experience for your child.
- Honesty: Giving clear, helpful feedback about how your child is getting on.
- Resilience: Supporting children to face challenges with confidence.
Helping Your Child at Home
We understand many of our children come from different language backgrounds or face challenges like limited experience or language barriers. Parents’ Evenings/Learning Meetings/Learning Meetings/Learning Meetings are a great chance to share simple ways you can help at home, such as:
- Reading together every day and talking about stories to boost language and understanding.
- Practising maths skills through fun everyday activities and games.
- Encouraging your child to talk about their ideas and try writing them down to build their confidence.
Together, we can help every child at Rood End Primary School do their best both at school and beyond.
Parents’ Evenings/Learning Meetings at Rood End Primary School aren’t just meetings—they’re an important way we work together to support your child’s learning and growth. Through honest, friendly conversations, we celebrate progress, tackle challenges, and build strong partnerships with families. We look forward to seeing you and working alongside you to help your child thrive.
Dates and times of Parents’ Evenings/Learning Meetings will be sent through Class Dojo and Arbor.
