Enrichment
At Rood End Primary School, we believe school is about more than just lessons and tests. It’s about helping every child grow into a confident, caring, and curious person. Our enrichment activities are all about building the skills and experiences that help our children succeed and feel proud of who they are. Everything we do is inspired by our vision of nurturing hope and ambition to achieve and succeed, and our values of Respect, Resilience, Inclusivity, Collaboration, and Honesty.
Growing Confidence and Communication
We want every child to feel confident sharing their ideas and speaking up. We support this by:
- Helping younger children build strong language skills early on, so they can take part fully in school and life.
- Using assemblies and small group workshops to encourage kindness, respect, and honesty.
- Giving lots of chances for children to practise talking and listening, so they can express themselves clearly.
Celebrating Our Diverse Community
Our school community is wonderfully diverse, and we want children to feel proud of where they come from while learning about others.
- PSHE & You Be You lessons and assemblies help children understand their role in the world and how to get along with different people.
- We focus on teamwork and respect, helping children appreciate different cultures and viewpoints.
- We remind everyone how important it is to come to school regularly, as being here every day helps children grow and learn.
Keeping Active and Healthy
Being active is key to feeling good and doing well. We make sure children have plenty of chances to move and play by:
- Running PE lessons and daily activities that boost coordination, stamina, and team spirit.
- Taking part in sports days, community events, and our OPAL (Outdoor Play And Learning) programme, which also helps build confidence.
- Planning fun movement games in nursery and early years that support important motor skills.
Encouraging Reflection and Identity
We help children explore big questions and find their own place in the world by:
- Offering Religious Education and assemblies that explore different beliefs and values in a respectful way.
- Introducing mindfulness and quiet time so children can reflect and find calm.
Learning Right from Wrong
Our 'We R RICH' values and 'Good to be Green' behaviour strategies help children understand how to make good choices by:
- Using clear behaviour rules and encouraging children to think about how their actions affect others.
- Teaching fairness, kindness, and responsibility every day, both in school and outside.
Opening Minds and Building Experiences
We want children to discover the wider world and feel ready for it by:
- Planning trips to parks, museums, theatres, and local events.
- Celebrating different cultural festivals and welcoming many languages and traditions in school.
- Giving children experiences that help them understand and appreciate the world beyond their neighbourhood.
Why Our Enrichment Matters
Many of our children come from diverse backgrounds and speak English as an additional language. Our curriculum and enrichment activities help children grow in confidence and develop skills to overcome challenges and shine.
At Rood End Primary, we’re committed to making sure every child feels supported and ready to achieve their best.
Join Us in Supporting Your Child’s Growth
