Junior PCSO's

Junior PCSOs is a leadership initiative developed by West Midlands Police and Neighbourhood Teams. It aims to increase the confidence and self-esteem of the children, while strengthening relationships between the community and the police.

Rood End's Junior PCSO's  will be advocates for our school, addressing and tackling issues such as road safety, parking, bullying and litter around our school site.

Pupils from year 5 applied for the role of Junior PCSO and 10 pupils were chosen due to their positive and pro-active attitudes.  The group have completed their training with our local PCSO Jayne Evans. Some of the things they have learned about have included,

  • Phonetic Alphabet.
  • Road Signs and Safety.
  • Seat belts and Car Safety.
  • Citizenship and the Environment.
  • Online Safety Awareness.
  • Basic First Aid/CPR.
  • The PCSO Pledge.
  • Looking after your uniform and books

They will continue in the role for the rest of the academic year and will then be involved in training new PCSOs next year.
