Castles and the Battle of Hastings

In Autumn 1, we will be focusing on Norman castles and the Battle of Hastings.

Key skills include:

*Ask questions: What was it like? What happened? How long ago?

*Use artefacts, pictures, stories, online sources and databases.

*Show an understanding of concepts such as: civilisation, monarchy, parliament, democracy, war and peace.

*Use words and phrases such as: a long time ago, years, decades, centuries to show the passing of time.

* Show an understanding of ‘nation’ and a nation’s history.

Alongside this, we will be making informative posters and creating our own Motte and Bailey castles.
